Zayn & Zoya

Zayn and Zoya are a brother and sister making their way through the alphabet one letter at a time. Their first book, Zayn & Zoya’s ABC Adventures, is for children aged three to five — one letter to a page, a word to say out loud together, and a picture worth stopping on.

Khalique Story House is a small independent press in Michigan. Majidh Khalique writes the books.

I have young children of my own, and these are the books I wanted to read with them.

How these are made

Small things get a lot of attention here.

The free printable pack uses the letterforms children are taught to write — a single-story a and g — not the ones they read in print. Most fonts only have the reading shapes, which means most tracing sheets quietly teach the wrong letter. Ours are drawn as strokes, in the order a pencil actually moves.

The sheets are also built to print at home: white backgrounds, color only where color earns its place, and every page usable on its own, so nobody has to print all thirty-eight.
